One of my big pet peeves is when people make assumptions about me or anything else instead of asking clarifying questions.
One day I was talking to a family member and asked why they did something, and they explained what they assumed about me that dictated their actions. They decided about me before talking to me to clarify my intentions. This was very frustrating for me, as no one wants to be prejudged based on false assumptions.
One of my favorite books is The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. One of his principles is: “Don’t Make Assumptions.” When you make assumptions instead of being curious, you draw false conclusions very quickly.
Human beings are highly intelligent, but when you make assumptions about people instead of asking questions, you are resorting to the lowest form of intelligence!
Finally, when you assume you build walls to relationships and communication that do more to divide than connect. The next time that you are tempted to make assumptions about someone, take the time to pause and ask clarifying questions.
Make today great!

Assumptions and presumptions are weapons for destruction to a relationship. When we assume we have already placed bondage upon a potential opportunity to learn, grow, and prosper from another individual.
Well said my brother!
