Every January we celebrate the birthday of the late great MLK. According to John Blake, an often-overlooked part of King’s greatness was his ability to receive and reflect on input from others. His famous I Have a Dream Speech was unplanned and the result of Mahalia Jackson hollering, “Tell them about the dream, Martin!
This may surprise many as we often see leadership that is arrogant and imperialistic.
Leadership that often ignores input and sometimes rogue. This is not very smart as wise men and women seek counsel while the unwise knows everything and nothing at the end of the day.
As you go about your week, find opportunities to listen to wise counsel, as great leaders realize that they don’t have all the answers!
