I recently ran into a friend, and he told me about his struggles with people pleasing.
He told me that he used to drop what he was doing or change his plans with his wife when someone would call with an immediate need.
As you probably already guessed, this quickly became a problem. One day he talked to his pastor about his dilemma and the pastor encouraged him to set boundaries.
A few months later the very same pastor called him to help move furniture. My friend told him “yes.” But there was a problem, he was supposed to go somewhere with his wife.
His wife was not happy about the change in plans. My friend then called the pastor and told him that he cannot help. The pastor replied, “I completely understand.”
Saying no isn’t always easy, but necessary for peace, happiness and focus. Don’t be afraid to say “no” or set boundaries in all areas of your life!
